CIVIL wAR tRAINING cAMP

1861-1864

The Camp Kane Campus plan was created as guide for the future development of Camp Kane. This will help insure visitors will learn the amazing history of the Camp, 8th and 17th Illinois Cavalries, St. Charles and Kane County, especially  their involvement in the Underground Railroad and the Civil War.

These projects will be developed in 8 stages. The First Phase is relocation of the Jones Law Office to the site. This was completed in September of 2014.

The Second Phase was the construction of the redesigned Camp Kane Memorial. This was completed in 2017 and officially opened to the public November 11, 2017.  Further improvements will continue to be done as funding allows.

The Third Phase will be the construction of an outdoor education. The plan for the Education Center is shown below and funds are currently being raised for its construction.

Other phases, an Underground Railroad Memorial, various statues and eventually the construction of the Farnsworth Underground Railroad and Civil War Discovery Center. Donations are always needed to help make these projects become reality.
